Friday 28th July

The Finixio team visited St Francis Hospice in Romford, Essex to make a donation of £7,000 to the charity after sponsoring ITV4’s Sports Stars Charity Fishing event.

The competition, which featured sports stars from the world of boxing, darts, rugby, horse racing and British Olympians is an annual event, run in order to raise money for various charitable organisations.

32 competitors, including Matchroom Chairman Barry Hearn, boxer Kell Brooke, Olympians Derek Redmond and Gail Emms, the Great British Women’s Netball team, darts stars Gary Anderson, James Wade and Rob Cross, were split into teams of four and competed throughout the day to see who could land the most fish at Tunnel Barn Fishery in Warwick.

The event, which will be screened on ITV4 raised several thousand pounds for a number of charities and Finixio were pleased to be a contributor, donating £7,000 to St Francis Hospice.

Neil Roarty, of Finixio, who visited the Hospice to meet the staff and present the cheque, said:

“The fishing event was a fantastic success, with some famous athletes giving up their time and money in order to help a number of great causes.

Finixio chose to make a donation to St Francis Hospice due to the great work they do in the local community. The staff work tirelessly caring for residents of the hospice and making them as comfortable and cared for as possible.

It was also great to hear about all the community work being done by the 800+ strong team, and a truly humbling experience to get to speak to the team and see first hand the difference they make in so many lives.”

Anne Brown of St Francis added:

“We are so grateful to Finixio for taking an interest in Saint Francis Hospice. Your generous donation of £7,000 will help people where and when they need it most, and your kindness will help to keep families together right to the end, a truly priceless gift.

We look forward to working with Finixio in the future. Together we can make a real difference to people at the end of their lives, and to their families as they face the loss of a loved one.”
